It has always been the destiny of Americans to pursue liberty, not Liberty the platitude that will be confused with other platitudes such as license, but liberty the sacred gift of personal and public responsibility to pursue individual inclinations which lead towards a happy end in this life. This Liberty is the freedom to do what one must do and not simply what one might crave. Would that more Americans look beneath simplistic slogans like Hope and Change to view the real agenda. Euphemisms often cloak a sinister reality and people are all too often afraid to look at something which will horrify them. Hitlers slogan "Final solution" sounded quite brisk in the lexicon of 1940s Germany. Choice, Hope, and Change have yet to be examined by the tenants of our time. One hopes that they wake soon from their sweet dreams.
